How to prepare dogs for boarding
Taking your dog away on a work trip or on holiday isn’t always practical. At some point, you may be required to bring your dog to a boarding kennel. For more than 50 years, Palmdale Kennels has worked with pet parents to ensure their fur baby has an enjoyable and relaxing stay with us. Before choosing Palmdale Kennels, arm yourself with information on how to prepare dogs for boarding on the Central Coast.

On Arrival, Be Sure To Bring…
- a vaccination certificate
- Contact details in case of emergency
- Any prescription medication your dog may be taking. Please ensure all medication is labelled with instructions and correct dosage. We always recommend packing extra medication in case your return is delayed
- Collar and leash. All dogs must be on a leash when arriving to the kennel.
Does your dog have special dietary requirements? Be sure to bring food labelled with the correct dosage. If your dog has any unusual habits, we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Some pet owners like to bring in their dog’s bedding, favourite blanket or toy to help make them more comfortable. Please keep in mind we are not responsible for any items that are lost or damaged while your dog is staying with us.

Handy Tips
Plan ahead! Beds at Palmdale Kennels will fill out fast, especially during the holiday periods. Be sure to make a reservation well ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
We welcome visitors from across the Central Coast to inspect the kennel and see our facilities. We’ll take you through the pens and our secured outdoor area where we provide daily exercise for our guests.
If you have never boarded your dog at a kennel before, it can be a stressful time for you and your pet. We recommend booking a doggy day care session or even a small stay to help them settle into our routine.
When dropping your dog off, it’s always best to make a quick departure. Dogs are incredibly perceptive and will pick up on your stress and most likely start to feel anxious and scared. Keep your goodbye’s brief and happy—save the crying for when you get back to the car!
